Lesson Materials
I have a preferred set of lesson materials that I use for core, in addition to supplementary materials for warm-ups and additional practice. I choose the supplement materials based on each child's interest and strengths.

Core
I use the Alfred's Premier Piano Course 4-piece books for most of my students​. Once I am able to assess his/her individual ability, I can determine which level will be appropriate. The books range from beginner to advanced, with beginners starting at 1A.

Supplemental
Supplemental materials may include:

Warm-ups (generally for my late-beginner to intermediate students)

A Dozen a Day Preparatory Book

​Hannon

Additional music theory, such as scales, arpeggios, etc

Classical or jazz pieces or books

Individual songs in which students are interested

Anything else!
The goal is to supplement the core with materials that skill-build and also promote enjoyment of the material being played. As such, I try to find what my students are interested in and go from there in selecting supplemental materials.
